Wednesday Musings

I'm trying to avoid looking out the window as we have snow - again. Yes I do live in Canada but it doesn't mean I have to like snow in March (not that it's my favourite any other month either).

Here is a painting I did over the weekend "Early Morning Light". Every time I take a front photograph it seems to come up grey in the background but as you can see above, it's actually blue. It's a little misleading. Partly it has to do with the winter light and maybe a little about how my eyes aren't what they used to be.

Here are "Bouquet" and "Petals" sitting here. I like to show photos of them on a flat surface so you can see the 3-D effect as well as the size when placed against something familiar. In this case, each other. Again showing one photo doesn't give a painting justice, especially oil paintings which seem to  come alive in their own way.

Hydrangeas

It's that time of year! Hydrangeas have bloomed. Sunflowers have bloomed. If you want them all year round, here's the best way to keep them! All are still available!

Audiobooks and Art

I know many artists like to listen to music while they paint but I like to listen to audiobooks. I borrow from the library and its usually great but today I was three quarters through when it expired on me (my fault). When I went back in to borrow it, I had to place a hold. So I'll have to wait a week to find out what happened.  Blue Hydrangea 096 oil on canvas board 8" by 8" Click to Buy   Whenever I look at a painting I can always remember what book I was listening to. In some ways I self title them that way. This one will always be split into two but I got it finished anyway.  Not to advertise but I realize if I don't say it's a cliff hanger -  Sara Gruen - At the Water's Edge (interrupted- don't tell me how it ends) Sara Gruen - Water For Elephants
