Fun with Florals

I wanted to paint an uplifting floral arrangement. I went through my files and found a photo from earlier in the year. Ranunculus is one of my favourite flowers but I really like a floral arrangement that has a variety of flowers.
This was one of those paintings that didn't paint itself. Some just sing from the beginning and this one...not so much. At one point I thought I was done but I put it on the shelf for a day. I added to it, then put it up again. Then finally today I was just going to finish it, or else.
Now side note here, there's a thing called over-painting. It's an ugly thing and the painting is ruined. There is also the moment when you state it is done because you can't stand it anymore. Despite this overshadowing of doom, I proceeded. It was dodgy but I hope I pulled it off.

This photo shows the colour better. For anyone who has been following me lately you'll know my nemesis of light issues. This also allows you to see scale.

Spring Rhythm

This is another one of my faves! It's a softer Spring piece but there is something almost musical about the flow throughout. The yellow flowers were trimmed from my rosebush out in the front yard. The rest of the arrangement came from Creekview Floral, who do amazing bouquets and arrangements.  "Spring Rhythm" 12 x 16 oil on canvas This one needs a new home!

Hydrangeas

It's that time of year! Hydrangeas have bloomed. Sunflowers have bloomed. If you want them all year round, here's the best way to keep them! All are still available!
