Compositions

When I come up with an idea, I scribble out some thumbnails that usually look ... well... I understand what I meant when I look at them. Then, I set up a photoshoot with the chosen objects of this idea. It never really comes out exact to what I think it should be, but sometimes, it comes out better.

Below are some examples of an idea coming together and seeing how differently the photos can turn out just by changing the camera angle just a tiny bit.

I take a lot of photos.
Many years ago I would just start painting and then, at the end of all that hard work, would realize that the composition was just off. (It still does happen occasionally, but that's usually a drawing error). It's frustrating and with a little bit of prep work, you can cut down the problems. Some people don't like working from photos, but it does help figure out where everything goes.

Spring Rhythm

This is another one of my faves! It's a softer Spring piece but there is something almost musical about the flow throughout. The yellow flowers were trimmed from my rosebush out in the front yard. The rest of the arrangement came from Creekview Floral, who do amazing bouquets and arrangements.  "Spring Rhythm" 12 x 16 oil on canvas This one needs a new home!

Hydrangeas

It's that time of year! Hydrangeas have bloomed. Sunflowers have bloomed. If you want them all year round, here's the best way to keep them! All are still available!
