Getting the Colours Right

When I start painting I try to get the paints set up in the right hues on my palette.

This doesn't always go according to plan, in fact, it seldom does.

The colours got too dark and I couldn't see what was going on in the shadows.

By letting it dry and starting with a clean palette, I was able to put on those highlights and clean it up.

I stepped away at this point
(actually, I believe my son told me it was time to play a game app with him)
 and let it dry again.

The final highlights will come next.

Iris (19-14)

Another iris for the collection. This is a part of the spring collection that I am working on. I kept the background simple so the focus was on the main attraction, the bloom. The purple is a deep variation of colour and the top of the bloom is a gauzy white.  This artwork could work in any room. It's small size allows for it to be a part of a larger compilation or in smaller spaces such as hallways, kitchen, or bathrooms. Iris (19-14) 6" by 6" oil on canvas board Click to buy with Paypal

Hydrangeas

It's that time of year! Hydrangeas have bloomed. Sunflowers have bloomed. If you want them all year round, here's the best way to keep them! All are still available!

What a Mix

Today I was all over the place at first, running around. Somehow I managed to finish three paintings that I had sitting unfinished for a little while  Floral Mix 012 6" by 6" oil on canvas board Click to Buy Reach to the Top 7" by 5" oil on canvas board Click to Buy Green Reflections 5" by 7" oil on canvas board Buy with Paypal A productive day after all.
