A New Commission

The Process of a Commission

How does it all start?

As I have discussed in the prior blog, it starts with the grid when going big.

Taking the time to get the drawing as close to correct as perfect.
(Fun Fact: It never is!)

Start bringing in the colour.
For this piece there is a dark background, so that is where I started.

Starting to bring in the shapes through colour.
For the first layer, applying the main basics of colour,
I still keep making sure that the drawing stays true.

Iris (19-14)

Another iris for the collection. This is a part of the spring collection that I am working on. I kept the background simple so the focus was on the main attraction, the bloom. The purple is a deep variation of colour and the top of the bloom is a gauzy white.  This artwork could work in any room. It's small size allows for it to be a part of a larger compilation or in smaller spaces such as hallways, kitchen, or bathrooms. Iris (19-14) 6" by 6" oil on canvas board Click to buy with Paypal
