Peonies 170

It's that time of year where I'm forced to finish up some half done paintings. There are too many stacked up and as the weather turns, I'm spending more time indoors.  Insert sad face emoji here. But this one is finished now so I hope you enjoy it. Peonies 170 9" by 12" oil on canvas Click to Buy

Oldie but Goodie

In 2013, we made a spontaneous trip up north to Algonquin Park at the end of September. Us (my hubby, me, the kids and the dog), and thousands of others. The campgrounds were packed and buses were dropping off people like ants to candy. I had never seen anything like it.  Why was everyone rushing there, you ask.  The weather was amazing (sunny and warm) and the leaves were perfect (the fall colour was striking). The warm air created fog in pockets in the hills, it was breathtaking. I have painted this picture before but I wanted to try again. Below you can see the process. Canadian Thanksgiving

It was that time of year again! Not the greatest weather this year but I did my best to find half decent photos to take when I could. North Bay area - Restoule Now it's back to work.

Autumn Breeze (167)

September seems to have zipped by so quickly and I have barely anything done. I've been working on this canvas for the past week or so.  Getting the main parts of the drawing is essential. I'm more a sloppy painter. I can't do one little section at a time. I work the canvas the whole time, going over and over until it's finished. I am trying out a new medium (walnut oil) to see how it works. So far, so good. The hardest part is trying to figure out when it's finished.  Autumn Breeze (167) 20" by 20" oil on canvas Click to Buy

Back to Work

September didn't end up like I imagined.   The house has been in chaos for the past few weeks. We're putting in a much needed second bathroom (finally!), and for some reason I got the idea that since the house is in crazytown I should add more crazy to it. So I moved the studio downstairs to the family room. Sounds so simple, but I had to take apart all the furniture and because I'm not Wonder Woman, take each small piece down and once it was all there, put it together. I'm tired just telling you about it.  This also created a whole chain event of moving both my kids rooms around (which means painting their new rooms and of course bribery - a new piece of furniture each ). Two trips to IKEA later, hours of putting everything together and we're almost there. I hope.  I do not recommend doing this to anyone. I put together: 2 shelving units, 1 sidetable, 1 desk with 5 drawers, 1 vanity with 2 drawers, and a cube bookcase I think I'm done w...

Something New

I've been trying a few new things in the past few weeks. This is my first finished Landscape in a while. I hope to have a few more coming soon. I took this photo up in Algonquin Provincial Park in 2013. To say that it was overdue is an understatement.  Red Maple (164) 16" by 20" oil on canvas Fun Facts: I took 1500 photos that weekend (Most I'd ever taken in such a limited time). My daughter came down with the flu and spent four hours in the tent sleeping off the worst of it (No, I didn't take any photos of her while she was like this). I also discovered that if you get up in the dark, walk through the fog not seeing another soul in the campsite, when you get to the waterfront there are more photographers set up than paparazzi. I had never seen anything like it before. It took awhile to find a spot to set up without getting another camera in the shot. (That was a different photo than above)
