These colourful ranunculus were fun to paint but much harder to photograph.  I ended up outside on a cloudy day and finally managed to get close to the right colours. It really is hard to determine on a computer screen and in different lighting.  "Spirals" (20-11) 8" by 8" oil on canvas Just a little painting but packed with colours!!! Looks like happiness to me.

Festive! This is the sister painting to my first Festive painting. They are very similar  (as they came from the same flowers and photo shoot) but different enough that they carry their own strengths. There is something about Autumn colours.  Orange Yellow Deep Red Most of the time we don't gravitate towards orange but at this time of year we surround ourselves in it. I bought myself some flowers at the farmers market and just threw them together. Took some pictures and knew that I had to do an autumn piece. I am not sure if chrysanthemums and cabbage roses go together but they were interesting to paint together. I have taken my time this year, perhaps a little too slow,  but I am finally getting the works finished.  Yay!  This one I started in March? I think. Maybe April?  Let's just say it was so long ago I have forgotten.  It's a bigger piece and to be honest, I was a little intimidated with all the lines and colours. It felt a little like one of those puzzles where all the pieces are of the same colour and you have to figure it out one piece at a time.  Scary. "Sunlight" (19-36) 18" by 24" by 1.5" oil on gallery canvas In this picture I am trying to give you a size perspective. The flowers are so large (even larger than I usually paint) that I felt one needed more viewpoint. I have painted the edges to continue the painting from the side. With a gallery style canvas the frame really isn't necessary, so I have created a nice side view.

This is another one, DONE! Done! Did you read that? Done! Very excited to have it off the to-do list. Very. Happy.  "Peony Pile-Up"  (19-39) 18" x 24" x 1.5" oil on gallery canvas I named it something fun because it seems somewhat whimsical. It literally is a pile of peonies, so why not?  Again, pics of the sides. Still painting there!

I take a lot of photos ahead of time.  This past spring I did a photo shoot with tulips. I take a lot of pictures but usually I only use 1-3 at most. This grouping was no exception. I had planned to finish this work sooner but it's here and finished.
