Working On...

Some small canvas and panels I've been working on for Valentine's Day! Not finished yet. Coming soon! "Wine for Two" All are 8" x 8" Wine and Roses! Romance!

A Splash of Color!

I have been painting quite a bit in the past few weeks but unfortunately, I haven't been finishing a lot of paintings. It's the way it goes sometimes. Priorities shift, paintings get too wet, deadlines and dates change things up.  Today I needed to start and finish a painting just for my own sanity. I went to the store (grocery as there are hardly any stores open right now with the lockdown) and got myself a bunch of flowers. From start to finish all in one day. Phew!  This was a nice change. It should be said that this is only 6" by 6" in size  so it was a lot easier to finish than the larger pieces I'm doing.

Number Four

Here is the fourth of the Dark Series. #21-04 "Depths of Winter" 10" by 10" (25.4 cm x 25.4 cm) oil on canvas  When I order canvases now, I always order professional quality instead of quantity.  This series is on a double frame canvas. Two years ago I had a painting bow on me and since then, I have ordered these. They may be more expensive, but I think it's worth it.

Almost there....

Almost there.  Hopefully it will be done next week. We will see. "Early Rise in Algonquin" 36" by 24" (91.4 cm x 60.9 cm) oil on canvas (gallery) Started out more monochrome. Trying to define the layout.

Lost and Found

I had one of my paintings go missing!  LOST IN THE MAIL!   It was horrifying for both the buyer and myself (and I suppose the person whom the present was for as well, if we're creating the entire list). I've had a few hiccups over the years (one package took a little side trip to Australia for a long weekend but we got that one back on track pretty quick as it was intended for California instead) but this was the first LOST. We lost tracking in between Canada and USA and there was nothing.  No sign.  My client was amazing and understanding, I could not have asked for a better person to work with. Super awesome! We stuck through the nail biting and the worry (because there are much worse things going on in the world right now) and the Post came through!  28 days later. So, right now, delivery persons and mail carriers are my hero's. I love a good ending.

Working on...

At the beginning of the year I wanted to get organized. I at least wanted to set out some plans, goals of what I wanted to accomplish. I think I set too many. I have started the Dark Series (but I keep adding more to what was intended to only be six) Then I said I was finally going to get to the landscapes that I intended to do. Then I added that Rose Series (and of course I would go large) I still haven't finished the Algonquin Marsh painting yet. So of course, I started getting more canvases ready to paint on... Sounds about right.

Etsy

Etsy   is where you can usually find my flowers. This month is no exception.   Here's the start of my new dark series. "Dark Silhouettes" 10" x 10" oil on premium canvas #21-01 "Center Spotlight" 10" x 10" oil on premium canvas #21-02

New finds!

New to DailyPaintworks! If you want something larger, here you go! "Parade" 18" by 24" by 1.5" oil on gallery canvas #19-39 The painting continues around the edges. "Continuity" oil on gallery canvas 18" by 24" by 1.5" #19-36 I like to paint the edges for two reasons.  First it gives the person buying the original something different, something special. Secondly, it gives you an option of not framing the painting. If you want to have a more contemporary look to your art, gallery style canvas unframed is one way to gain this effect.

At Dusk

Here is number three! I've been really busy! You have no idea! "At Dusk" 10" x 10" oil on canvas #21-03 This one was a photograph that I took a year or so back and I just wasn't ready for it yet. I take a lot of pictures because you never know when you will need a reference. I was playing around with the lighting in these shots and I really enjoyed the volume of all the flowers. There's a little less movement in this one, so if you're someone who wants subtle intrigue, this one is for you.

Spotlight

Introducing number two of the Dark series. This one is called "Spotlight".  With the direct overhead light and the central positioning, I think it's an adequate description. This one is a showstopper. There's a lot of energy in the leaves and twigs visually moving your eyes around but the blooms with their gorgeous colours keep you coming back to them.  "Spotlight" 10" x 10" oil on canvas #21-02 Will be available on Etsy next week.

Dark Silhouettes

Here is the first finished painting of the year. This is also the first of the Dark Series. All of these Dark series artworks will be 10" by 10" in size. All will be on professional grade, regular (not gallery) canvases. Dark Silhouettes 10" x 10"  oil on canvas #21-01 "Dark Silhouettes" is a segment of a floral arrangement. I painted it last year for the Vintage Series but I think it came out better than ever this year.  It has a lot of movement in it as if it's building up to go somewhere. It's intriguing.  This and a few others will be coming to Etsy soon.

Kefi Art Gallery

As the New Year starts, I am trying to get organized. One way to do this is to tell you all the places where you can find my work. Etsy.com and dailypaintworks.com are where you can find most of my smaller paintings. There is one place where you can find my larger works and that is kefiartgallery.com Red Maple 20x16 End of Season 18x24                                                                                    Sunrise                                                           20x16                                              Solace       9x12                      Cream and Copper         9x12

Decisions! Decisions!

It's a new year. I have to choose with paintings to make prints of.  Not to mention how many. Or what sizes? It's a lot to think about.
