Painting the Roses...pink

Roses! Not sunflowers anymore. Here is a photo of some roses that I have painted twice now. Maybe three times. This is the point that I am at. I am a little stuck. We all get here and I have learned to step back and not touch anything until I have a plan. From a distance, these look great but I want to finish them off properly. I am trying to work on the realistic colors and shadows. I find that getting the right color can allow forgiveness for impreciseness. It is one of those wonderful elements in loose realism that I love. Lets see if I can figure this out.

Floral Thriller

"Raspberry Thriller" is new to the Etsy, DPW listings! "Raspberry Thriller" (#22-24) 12" x 12" oil on canvas board This is one of those paintings that are easy to frame. Just tape it in under the matboard. Very easy!

Named!

It took me a little while to figure out what to call this painting. I worked on the painting for quite a few months creating layers of translucent glazes and correcting and changing the colors until I thought it was just right. I knew the theme was all about summer. All about the hot sun,  the warm breezes, the endless blue sky.  But... What to name it? It's such a playful piece I didn't want something too serious so I went with simplicity. "Sun Dance" Simple. I hope you like it. 30" x 40" x 7/8" oil on canvas
