Rose Garden #20-21

"Rose Garden"
was my first attempt at painting roses on a large scale
and as part of the rosebush instead of cut and arranged into a floral arrangement.

Once I cropped a photo, I drew out the composition in vague geometrical patterns. From there it was just adding the base colours. I am pretty sure that I was painting over a painting. I will do that if there isn't that much relief on the underpainting.

After the base paint had dried, it was time to get serious and push in with the correct colours and final drawing, especially for the leaves. There was a lot of leaves.

One of the best things to paint were the highlights.
There were so many of them and it was enjoyable to see the painting come alive with the sunlight.

Almost done.

Spring Rhythm

This is another one of my faves! It's a softer Spring piece but there is something almost musical about the flow throughout. The yellow flowers were trimmed from my rosebush out in the front yard. The rest of the arrangement came from Creekview Floral, who do amazing bouquets and arrangements.  "Spring Rhythm" 12 x 16 oil on canvas This one needs a new home!

Color!

Did someone say they wanted a painting with color? HOT Pink! available as original or as a Print!

Iris (19-14)

Another iris for the collection. This is a part of the spring collection that I am working on. I kept the background simple so the focus was on the main attraction, the bloom. The purple is a deep variation of colour and the top of the bloom is a gauzy white.  This artwork could work in any room. It's small size allows for it to be a part of a larger compilation or in smaller spaces such as hallways, kitchen, or bathrooms. Iris (19-14) 6" by 6" oil on canvas board Click to buy with Paypal
